MARLINS WIN! MARLINS WIN! MARLINS WIN!
Just goes to show you that an efficient, well-oiled team will beat a star-heavy, smaller-team-raiding, goat-cursed monolith any day of the week. Can't wait for the Series.
If you haven't done so yet, read
Mr. C's blog entries about homecoming. It's actually got me thinking about Homecoming rituals quite a bit. Even though I don't like most of the rigamarole surrounding the crowning and all that shit, I am reluctant just to automatically and reflexively condemn anybody who finds such activities important or exciting. Too many people in this society are made to feel as though they're nobody, without any special qualities or unique worth. If there's one thing American society has proven to us, it's that the reactions to this can be absurd and dangerous, but always come down to the same thing: PEOPLE WANT TO STAND OUT. And they want to stand out because too often they're told they don't matter. I see some of this in Homecoming celebrations, and that's why I'm not as down on the whole nonsense as some folks are. Of course, you'll never see me participating in this shit, but those who choose to are alright by me...as long as they don't bother than me.
On the box right now: RZA, Birth of A Prince.

Dove With Claws [9:20 PM]
[ Sunday, October 12, 2003 ]
I've corrected a link below, to Ken's blog.
How 'bout those Badgers over Ohio State? I care very little about football, but I must admit that I was pretty damned psyched when we stopped the national champions in their 19-game-win-streak tracks. If you wanna be a badger, come along with me, by the bright, shining light of the moon.
By the way, believe the hype on the BBC show THE OFFICE. Rented the first series yesterday, and it lives up to all the positive things people are saying about it. Hilarious stuff.
Okay, that's all for tonight. More later when I think of something to say.
On the box right now: The Who, WHO'S NEXT
Peace...
