Life's little ups and downs

So, for those who don't know, I'm laid up for 6 to 8 weeks with a broken leg. Not exactly the way I wanted things to go, but it could've been much worse. (Could've been September, after all...) Anyway, I'll still be harassing y'all with my thoughts, opinions, fire-bells and hallucinations. Nothing more right now, though.

On the box right now: Gretchen Wilson, HERE FOR THE PARTY

Peace...

Ray-Gun

Ronald Reagan passed on yesterday. I'm sincerely sorry that he had to suffer while he died, but I'm more sorry that we had to suffer while he lived. Prepare for a right-wing canonization the likes of which may be unprecedented. I only hope that the Moron-In-Chief doesn't get a sympathy bounce from all this. (Maybe if he and his Republican cronies had supported stem-cell research, Alzheimer's - and many other diseases - wouldn't claim the lives they do. Recently, even Nancy Reagan was saying this.)

Perhaps the most telling remark I heard made was in reference to the way that Reagan ("The Great Communicator") could "make even the most complex thing sound simple, reduce it to a single sentence that got his point across." That's a very sinister proposition, don't you think? Of course, if we had a left-wing version, I don't think I'd complain. So fuck me.

On the box right now: Donny Hathaway, THESE SONGS FOR YOU LIVE. Hathaway's version of "You've Got A Friend" is really beautiful and moving.

Peace...
