Have a laugh

This new show WEB JUNK 20 premiered last night on VH1. It's basically a weekly countdown of the funniest/most memorable internet clips that the intrepid producers were able to dig up the previous week. I'd seen a few of them, being a regular driver on the information superhighway, but most of them were new to me. And they were hilarious. Check out the clips at the link below:

I particularly recommend Arnold at Carnivale, and the narcoleptic dog. And, of course, the Farting Preacher, which may be the funniest thing I've ever found on the internet.

On the box right now: Prince, Rave Un 2 The Joy Fantastic. Found a used copy of this. Not the Artist's best work, but - like everything he's ever done - it has its moments.

Dove With Claws [7:17 AM]

So, today, I cleaned out my department mailbox for the first time since early December, and I discovered amongst the expected forms and fliers a burned disc, of Yerba Buena. I have absolutely no idea who gave this to me, and - being the neurotic that I am - I immediately suspected that somebody had told me they were dropping this in my box, and I probably said an emphatic "thanks," and then totally forgot about the whole thing. I don't recognize the handwriting, and I don't know who might've done this. Don't even have any real suspects. Any thoughts?

By the way, my two new favorite people in the world are the Korean doctor who just admitted that he faked the whole stem-cell breakthrough he claimed to have made last year, and James Frey, who went from Oprah's Book Club darling to damn-near-proven fake in the space of less than two weeks. Well done, men.

On the box right now: Joe Tex, ANTHOLOGY.

See here

Now, y'all should already be checking out Soul Sides (, a great audio-blog run by Oliver Wang, but - in case you're not - you now have the extra incentive of three entries this week from your own humble correspondent, all on soul made in Muscle Shoals. Now, as any regular readers know, I'm a bit of an obsessive on this stuff, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that - given the opportunity - I'd spread the Shoals gospel. I'm proud of the entries, at any rate, and you're given the handy-dandy opportunity to download mp3s of the tracks I'm referencing (though only for 10 days, so don't dilly-dally). Check it out, and leave some nasty comments in the appropriate section.

On the box right now: Various Artists, DAVID CANTWELL'S 2005 MIX, Disc 3: "The Greatest Love." Love songs both earthly and spiritual from the previous 365.
